Key Principle: InspectMac is designed to be 100% local and privacy-first. The application processes all data on your Mac and does not transmit any file data, scan results, or personal information to our servers or any third parties.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

InspectMac does not collect, store, or transmit:

  • File names, file paths, or directory structures
  • Scan results or disk usage data
  • Application usage analytics or telemetry
  • Personal files or documents
  • System configuration details
  • IP addresses or device identifiers

All file scanning, analysis, and deletion operations happen entirely on your local Mac.

3. Information We Collect

We collect only the following minimal information:

3.1 License Information (Pro Users Only)

  • Email Address: Provided during license purchase to validate your Pro license
  • License Key: Stored locally on your Mac in ~/Library/Application Support/InspectMac

License validation is performed via our payment provider (Lemon Squeezy) using industry-standard HTTPS requests. No file data or scan results are transmitted during validation.

3.2 Website Analytics (inspectmac.com only)

Our marketing website may use privacy-friendly analytics (e.g., Plausible, Fathom) to understand visitor traffic. These tools do NOT use cookies or track personal information.

4. How We Use Information

The minimal information we collect is used solely for:

  • License Validation: Verifying your Pro license status
  • Customer Support: Responding to support requests via email
  • Refund Processing: Handling refund requests within our 15-day guarantee

5. Data Storage and Security

  • Local Storage: All scan data, preferences, and license information are stored locally on your Mac
  • No Cloud Sync: We do not sync, backup, or transmit your data to cloud servers
  • Payment Security: Payment processing is handled by Lemon Squeezy (PCI DSS compliant). We do not store credit card information

InspectMac uses the following third-party services:

  • Lemon Squeezy: Payment processing and license validation (Privacy Policy)

These services are used exclusively for payment and license validation. No file data or scan results are shared with these services.

7. Children's Privacy

InspectMac is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the license information stored locally on your Mac
  • Delete your license data by using the "Deactivate License" feature in Settings
  • Request deletion of your email from our payment provider's records
  • Request a refund within 15 days of purchase
